At 11:00 am on July 1, State Council Premier Li Keqiang, the member of the Politburo Standing Committee, visited Liaoning Port Group and listened to the report of Mr. Li Jianhong, Chairman of China Merchants Group and Mr. Fu Gangfeng, General Manager of the same group. Premier Li Keqiang was accompanied by Chen Qiufa, Secretary of Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Governor Tang Jun. Among the visiting group are Xiao Jie, Secretary-General of the State Council, He Lifeng, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Hao Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and Bai Jingtao, General Manager of Liaoning Port Group.

In front of the drawing board, Mr. Li Jianhong introduced to Premier Li Keqiang the basic situation of Liaoning Port integration and the production and operation of Liaoning Port Group in the first half of the year, before a brief report was made by him on the issues concerned by Premier Li.

Li Jianhong said that under the care and support of the Premier, China Merchants Group has successfully integrated Dalian Port and Yingkou Port into Liaoning Port Group. Since its establishment, the Group has focused on the construction of international shipping center in northeast Asia to actively open up shipping routes, innovative its services, and attract foreign trade containers to transfer in Dalian. Through restructuring and integration, quality and efficiency improving, the Group has gradually broken the vicious circle of segmented operation, repeated construction and cutthroat competition in the past. Core indicators such as cargo throughput and business performance have seen a steady and orderly growth, and thanks to the cooperation with the investment ports from north to south, the Group has opened up a major channel based on north-south interaction between grain and container. At the same time, the model of "front port - central district - back city" has been established according to local conditions, and the "New Shekou" in northeast Asia is being created in Taiping Bay.

Li fully acknowledged the achievements of Liaoning Port Group in the first half year, and he point out that Liaoning not only has rich coastal resources, but superior port conditions and a great coastal opening-up advantage. We should adhere to President Xi Jinping’s guiding thought of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, make full use of these conditions and resource advantages, and effectively promote the development of Liaoning coastal economic belt. The rejuvenation of Liaoning and northeast China has to rely on further reform and opening up, and we should give full play the decisive role of market in resource allocation, through a larger scale of "decentralization, supervision and supporting policy" reform to create a better business environment and strengthen our development competitiveness.

Premier Li further stressed that the Port is the cornucopia and valuable treasure of Liaoning province. We should turn our development orientation towards deep ocean to further deepen our reform and opening up, actively participate in the northeast Asia competition, and better serve Liaoning, northeast China and Inner Mongolia as their gateways to the sea, and the port shall offer high-quality development to radiate and drive the rejuvenation of the whole northeast China.

Before leaving, Premier Li Keqiang shook hands with some model workers of the Group.
